Question: what to do about this guy i work with. he's chinese and i think his diet maybe the cause, but his breath is so sickening. we are in an smaller office w/ no windows or ventilation to speak of and i have to keep leaving the room every little bit so i wont throw up. i asked him the first day if he ate a lot of garlic (since i could smell it right away) and he said yes and that he'd chew more gum. it's not working. i've told my manager and he didn't seem to concerned w/ it but i cant take it anymore. what do you do w/ a stinky person who know's they stink and does nothing about it????

The best thing you can do is tell him.. It might be embarassing for him, but it's definately for the best! ..Almost like when a friend is walking around with something in their teeth.. It might be embarassing for them when you point it out, but I'm sure they're also appreciative of you pointing it out so they don't continue walking around like that.

If you want to spare his embarassment, try writing a VERY polite, professional, annonymous letter (typed) about his problem. Offer some kind of solution. Try to be as nice as possible.. Then leave it on his desk when he isn't around. That way he doesn't have to feel awkward or know who wrote it...

Unless you prefer telling him in person, then just make sure you take him somewhere private and tell him in a soft voice so nobody else can hear.

You will need to tell him directly... If you are too afraid to do this than get used to the stench!
