Can you feel the pain physically when you cut yourself but then your emotional p!

Question: sorry if the question doesn't make sense & if it sounds disturbing.
please don't report me, i don't think this question has to do with anything abusing others. i just want to know.

i have never cut myself with a metal blade. i just don't have the nerves to see myself bleeding with limbs cut no matter how emotional i am.

when you cut yourself with a knife or a metal blade, how do you feel physically & how much does your emotional pain go away? no, i would never do that & i would never have the nerves....just wondering.

Most self injurers feel little or no pain while hurting themselves, mostly due to psychological factors. Also, the body releases endorphins (natural opiates) which eases the physical pain. The act of self harming eases emotional pain, at least in theory.
this website is very informative: www.palace.net/~llama/psych/injury.html

I think the effect works on the subconscious and unconscious mind, below the level of awareness.
