The funny bone is actually called the Humorous bone. People call it the funny bone because when they hit it they say funny instead of humorous because they can't remember.
the funny bone is called a funny bone because it is 'rumored' that you can't break it. I'm not exactly sure weather you can break it, but the tailbone is also a 'funny bone'.
Because of the face you make when you hit it. It is called that mostly because other people laugh when you hit it.
Plus, have you ever had a Dr. hit it to check your reflex's? It jumps and it looks quite funny when it moves all by itself.
It's also a nerve bundle not a bone.
Like someone else said, people call it the funny bone because its name is the Humerus, sounds like 'humorous'. So some people think it's funny to call it that. I personally don't, but to each his/her own.
Although when some people refer to the funny bone, they are actually referring to the ulnar nerve.
