Help me get over my cigarette craving!!?!

Question: I have been trying to quit smoking for 3yrs now, finally gotten to the point where I don't buy them anymore. The husband and kids are all asleep, the corner store is a 3second drive away, ooh, I could sneak out and get some and no one would know, please, give me some words of encouragement!! I don't want to die, how can those little things be sooo addictive, what the heck do they put in them, it can't be just nicotine!

I don't need the gruesome details I watched my husbands uncle die from lung cancer also... NOT FUN!!!!! You need to find something to do with your hands when you have a craving, chew gum, anything. I am having this battle right now with my husband. He quit and started smoking again, it is really tough on him when all the guys he works with all day smoke and he ended up smoking again. So I loaded his work truck (where he is most of the day) with pictures of the girls and his uncle before and after he started looking sick. He says now when he wants a smoke he sees the pictures and if he lights up he feels like he is letting everyone down. So hopefully at some point it will just make him feel bad enough and he will stop all together. It is tough but you will make it if you put your mind too it.. You are already ahead by not buying them, so don't give in.. besides you waste more gas in a car running it on short trips (like the 3 second drive to the corner store) than on long trips, so think about the gas prices too!!!!!! good luck... I am here if you need to talk through a craving! P.S. I changed my name from Countrymomma2...

Brush your teeth, it stops food cravings and cigarette cravings as well, works for me.

Ummm - cigarettes.... If you have any Scottish genes, it will help to think HOW EXPENSIVE they are!!! Holy Cat Fish. I quit in the early 1970's when they were 35 cents a pack. I understand now they can be over $4. Of course it's all taxes.

But cigarettes are lovely things. How does one quit them? Just keep quitting. Quitting and failing and quitting some more. As our old surgeon general said once - cigarettes are the most addictive substance there is.

But the craving will go away - you might not have any fingernails left though.

you dont get a cigrate carving

There is a Book by Alan Carr titled How to stop smoking permanently. My mum read it 18 months ago and hasn't had a cigarette craving since. You have to buy it yourself and read it no one can buy it for you and you cant give it so anyone otherwise it wont work. i suggest you read it, you will find it will really help

I found the craving came in spasms, and would pass after a few minutes.

Nicotine is a very potent drug, and your body chemistry has to change dramatically when you quit. It is worth it, though.

hey good for you how did you do it?well anyway back to question its alot to do with you have nothing to do with your hands maybe peel an orange go online or knit suck a lolly

Decide to do it, do it, accept that you will be miserable until the chemicals are out of your system, eat lots of citrus, especially grapefruit. The Japanese variety of grapfruit is less acidic and has been known to actually curb cravings till they stop! Take it one day at a time. Stop whining about it...you can do it!
