What could be causing my chest pains?!

Question: I'm 21 years old, I don't drink or do drugs (never have done drugs) and I have a 3 1/2month old son. For about a month or so I've been having panic attacks and I have a constant chest pain. Its like my chest feels real heavy, like its closing in and its kinda hard to breath. But the constant chest pain has only been since Easter. What could be causing it?

Stress, seriously. But, chest pains are always important to report to your doctor - at once!!

You have a new baby to take care of. And you still need to take care of yourself.

Chest pains are not something you can just wait out. They could be something very serious.

You want to be there for your new baby boy.

Please call your doctor as soon as you can to report your chest pain.

you might have acid reflux disease. that targets your respiratory system. research it for more symptoms.

Your acknowledgment of "panic attacks" hit the nail on the head. Of course there are recorded young people with cardiac disease, but more likely a symptom of your high anxiety level. I would make a visit with a therapist to discuss your anxiety & either learn how to deal with your stress or the therapist might recommend a physician to offer a mild anti-anxiety medication. Best to try the therapy first.

If the doctor can't find anything wrong with you it might be your indoor air quality. Don't stop until you find the cause. Good luck.

"Common indoor plants may provide a valuable weapon in the fight against rising levels of indoor air pollution. Those plants in your office or home are not only decorative, but NASA scientists are finding them to be surprisingly useful in absorbing potentially harmful gases and cleaning the air inside modern buildings."

"NASA research has consistently shown that living, green and flowering plants can remove several toxic chemicals from the air in building interiors. You can use plants in your home or office to improve the quality of the air to make it a more pleasant place to live and work - where people feel better, perform better, any enjoy life more."

Likely it is the panic attacks and the anxiety you are experiencing, or, like someone else suggested, acid reflux, but if you are really concerned about it, go to the doctor to get checked out. It's best not to leave chest pains alone, even if it is "just" panic attacks or acid reflux. Both of those can also be treated. Take care.
