Very very strange back pain?!

Question: I have an odd pain in my mid/lower back (toward the right side). It is not the muscles or anthing like that. It feels like it's in the skin. It litteraly feels like someone is stabbing a dull knife into my skin.

Any ideas?

It isn't a constant pain, and it's not unbarable. It's just odd. sometimes it even itches a bit. My girlfriend and my mother looked at it and there is no marks or anything there.

They guessed that it could be a kidney stone or something and the pain is just being felt on the skin. That just sounds wierd though. It really is right on the skin, not through the bone or muscle.

This sounds more like shingles to me. The rash may not appear early on and may not appear at all. Get an appt. with your Dr. The pain may get worse and may be reduced by early intervention. There is no cure for it but it does go away. Dr's mainly treat the symptoms. If you had a kidney stone sweetie the pain is much more severe. GL

It's probably a nerve in or close to the surface of your skin. If it continues to bother you, you may want to see a doctor... there could be something pinching the nerve.
