Um...my tailbone still hurts....why?!

Question: ok....so its been three months since i have "bruised" my tailbone and i have seen a doctor but all he said was that it was bruised and didn't even take x-rays. ITS BEEN A LONG AGONIZING THREE MONTHS. It hurts as much as it did the day i hurt it so is it bruised or maybe fractured? It really really hurts even sometimes when i walk.

The reason that he didn't take x-rays is that if it's broken there's nothing they can do anyway. It's a LONG healing process unless you're willing to lie immobile for about 3 months. That's basically the same story for a broken toe also. In all the stuff that modern medicine can do ... it can't do much for these things.

It may have very well fractured. Your doctor sucks. Go right back to him and tell him to re-examine your coccyx. those suckers hurt.

My best advice is to find another doctor and tell him your situation, if he doesnt do xrays then find someone who will, even if you have to request xrays. If that doesnt work tell them that you will sue them for malpractice or something....flip them off and limp the hell out of there! No seriously, find another doctor who will take you seriously and do his job!! good luck hun! Oh yeah, and if it is broken there isnt much that they can do.....but at least they can give you some meds that will make the pain a little easier to bear...

You may have very well fractured it and it will just take time to heal up. There is nothing they can do for it other than prescribe you meds. It is just like a broken toe or often a finger.

Try getting some ice packs and sitting on those at night. Sitting on a pillow or having something for support helps. Even a seat cushion helps.

hang in there. They take a long time to heal. Good luck. take Tylenol when need be and get support for it.

Doctors can miss things on first glance. I'd go back or to a different doctor. It sounds like you fractured it.
