Should i or no?!


Question: i just got three stitches in my left knee. i am unsure if i should take a shower with it wrapped up or without. the doctor who put them in didnt tell me wat do do to take a bath. i have had stitches before but when i was 3 yrs old. sooooo, i dont know wat to do. my parents want to wrap it up with a something. tell me plz wat to do. THX!!!!!!<3

It's not really a great idea to "soil" the bandage or allow any water to soak the wound. What we advise our patients to do, when wanting to take a bath or shower, is to wrap (not tightly) the wound with saran wrap, taping the edges to your knee.

It sounds a bit strange but it keeps the wound clean and dry. Just wrap a light layer around the area, grab some packing tape (or even rubber bands) and tape them to your skin. It's much easier for people with stitches on their feet or hands! With that sort of wound you can simply put a ziplock bag with a tight rubber band over it.

Without. But without rubbing it either. Plain water will not do any harm. Cautiously drying with towel.
