Help! I'm injured and putting on weight fast!!!?!

Question: Hi there. Thanks for reading :)
Ok im 22, ive been in this foreign country for a few months, go dancing and tho i wasnt affected by alcohol, i slipped on water and twisted my knee bad, real bad.
It was in a cast(nothing like this has ever happened before), and now it's off and i was just starting to recover but it seems i over did it and now am struggling to walk again... argh.

It's kinda depressing you know.. i've been "resting" for just about 2months now. And Im just starting to eat crap out depression and hopelessness.. which is only making me feel worse and getting flabby. I also sprained my other ankle last week which was really a rock bottom moment..

Anyone know exercises I can do??? To stay physically on top of things, and perhaps if you have links that would be really appreciated..Or ofcourse other advice on wht to do to stay on top of it? thanks in advance!
(it's really getting too much to deal with right now) :(

Contact your doctor before you do any activities. I do not know the extent of your injuries. If your knee is completely healed, but you can't walk, you may be able to ride a stationary bike. I also wonder if an elliptical machine would work for you, because there would be very little impact on you feet/ankles, and it also works your arms. Also, swimming. Are you still in the foreign country? Do they have a gym you could join that has some of this equipment. You may also be able to finance/ purchase some of this equipment if you are at home. Your health is worth it. There may be some yoga, pilates, or floor exercises you could do. Lift some light hand weights and do some crunches. Monitor your diet carefully, and count your calories. Find out exactly what calories you need for your size. When I've been injured, I've had to really, really watch my diet.I'll be used to eating more , because I was more active before the injury. Avoid sodas. Drink mostly water, fat free milk, or unsweetened tea . I feel that 100% juice with no additional sugar added is also ok in moderation. Eat lean chicken or turkey, rice, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables. Do not eat candy, cheeseburgers, pizza, or fried foods. I do not eat beef at all. If you were to stay at 30 grams of fat or less per day, you would probably notice a dramatic weight loss, though your doctor may say you can have more. Fats aren't necessarily bad, but transfats or foods that say "partially-hydrogenated" would be ones to avoid. Start breakfast out with whole grain oatmeal, preferably without the sugar added. If you have to add sugar, add just a little. Sugar is not that bad, but you are trying to cut calories, in this case. Another choice is a whole grain cereal, like cheerios. Always use skim milk. If you need a snack, try fat free, salt free pretzels, but seriously limit your quantity. Another snack is dried fruit: raisins, apricots, etc. and carrots. If you like granola bars, make sure that they are whole grain and contain no trans fats/partially hydrogenated oils (examples: Kashi bars or nature valley oats n honey would work). They are generally fairly low fat and are whole grain. Lunch can consist of whole wheat bread with cheese that is either fat free or 2%, or you can just limit the amount of regular cheese, like, only use one slice. Use lean meats like sliced turkey. Never use mayonaise. If you want something to put on your bread, regular mustard is fat free and adds significant flavor. You can eat a sliced apple, banana, no-sugar-added applesauce, blueberries, or other favorite fruit with your sandwich. A lot of fruits come in the freezer section, if it is a bad time of year for fresh fruit. Frozen fruit and vegatables can actually be healthier than canned or fresh - they don't sit out. You could also eat a salad, instead, but don't ever eat ranch or creamy dressing. Stick to vinegar type/italian dressing if you have to have dressing. For dinner try chicken and rice and green beans, peas, etc. . If you eat a baked potato, skip the sour cream, bacon bits and cheese. Margarine often has trans fats and can be worse than butter. If you can find one of the new margarines that doesn't have trans fats, that may work. A tiny, tiny amount of butter would be ok. Always think about whole grains, low to no saturated and trans fat content, moderation with sugar. Spaghetti is ok, but use plain marinara sauce, and eat a small serving only. A small amount of parmesan is ok. That's all I could think of right now. I really hope it helps. I know it is tough being injured. Good luck.

Stick a toothbrush down your throat after every meal after you so that you vomit. That way you get all the taste and no weight gain. I do it all the time, trust me, it works.

i dislocated my kneecap 7 times(i couldent do physical stuff for 1 year!) and i gained weight toO. use things that dont involve feet like situps, weights ,sholder exersies hope this helps :) :0 : ) :0 :)

See stie below. It has good exercises you can do at home and best foods to eat and lots of tips on losing weight. Other pages have info on helping you to be more stress free.

Since it seems that you can't do things standing up so try exercising sitting down. Dance in your chair to your favourite songs. Move your torso and your butt and your arms. Before you know it you can burn a lot or calories and have fun too. Of course you can do boring stuff like sit ups etc, but I think my idea is much more fun. As far as eating, depression makes you do things you normally wouldn't do. Try eating healthy foods along with the junk food. This way at least you are eating better. I hope this helps.
