Please diagnose me...?!

Question: I have a light fever, yesterday and the day before I had a bad headache possibly due to lack of sleep (but Im in med school, im used to that, and this was way worse than usual, it just didn't go...). Today though, I woke up rather early with chills, felt really cold and i feel sensitivity along my rear neck and upper back. I don't have bad stomache aches, no yellowness or odd colors on my body, urine color normal, didn't eat anything out of the ordinary for my diet.

My pulse, feels a little weaker than I usually feel it, but i don't think it's anything special really. I feel weak-ish, and my eyes feel a tad irritated, maybe tired-like, mostly to the sides. again, no odd colors observed.

No tooth aches or abdominal pains upon touching. My lower back doesn't hurt when I touch around and above that area.

I have no idea what this could be, but it feels real bad :P please help.. :( thanks in advance

Try touching your chin to your chest. If it's painful, it could be meningitis (which is the first thing that I think of when anyone says fever with neck/upper back pain). If you're in med school then I don't have to tell you how dangerous meningitis can be... so, you should probably go get checked out to err on the side of caution. Hope you feel better soon! Good Luck!

Generally with something like this wouldn't you consult a medical practitioner without delay, and been in med school you'd know to do this especially????

Sounds like influenza. Please get checked out. If it is the flu the doc can prescribe Tamiflu to help shortwen the duration of the illness. But only if it is caught quickly enough.

Wow, you're in med school - and you "have no idea what this could be" I sure as heck hope you are 1st year... This is bad, must be a brain tumor or maybe meningitis - fever, stiff neck, terrible headache.
Seriously, you probably have the flu, just monitor your temperature, drink a lot of water, juice and soup; take some tylenol and get rest all weekend. The flu vaccine was not very effective this year and it is still going around.
Good luck with school, hope you become a better diagnostician before you get to residency!

a low grade fever with head aches with no other finding some form of common cold but you may have to wait for one or two days to see any other sign crop up.

It sounds to me like the flu....and a bit of OCD on the side! I think med school might be getting to you a little. LOL...I'm not trying to insult you. I've just never included uring color and pulse strength in the analysis of why I was sick before.
