Unfortunately, not every body is build to run, especially not on hard ground. This may however be corrected if you don't give an injury time to develop.

The reason for why you're having pain, may be that you have been jogging too much too soon, so you're body and knee aren't prepared for your new activity level yet. It may also be that your body is not "made" for running. By that I mean that there might be things like your knees or foots bend too much inwards or outwards, or you might be flat feet. You may also run "wrong". If you run "on your toes" means that the first thing that strikes the ground will be your toes, you will get extra pressure especially on your leg. Similar may happen if you overstrike on your heel, though that usually isn't that much of a problem.

If your musculature are too tight, shin pain may occur. That may also happen with knee pain. Stretch, and do strengthening exercises that don't involve running, and don't run if you feel pain. The shin pain may be an early stage of shin splints, the knee pain is more difficult to diagnosis without more details. Buy a leg warmer/leg wrap. That will decrease your shin pain and keep your muscles warm. If you still have pain you should see a PT. Massage and electric needles to improve your blood flow may help. He/she could also send you to a orthopedist that can build shoes or insoles especially made for you, which may help.

Good luck:)
