Could my time of sleep and bad skin be related?!

Question: Lately I haven't been getting to bed at night until 3:00 AM and I wake up everyday around 10-12:00 PM. I've noticed this last month that almost everyday I wake up with a new pimple (be it big or small). I haven't been eating anything new and I clean my face (almost) every night and tone everyday after I get out of the shower. I can't think of anything different other than the time I get to sleep.

Skin is the body's largest organ, and it's very complex. You have a list of possible things in all the answers here that it "might" be, but adding new variables to the equation, like green tea, etc., while you're trying to isolate the problem won't help. (Green tea is good for you, but if you weren't drinking green tea when you skin was clear, then adding it won't get you back to that time.)

If you think the change in sleep pattern is the problem, is there some reason you can't revert to your previous pattern to see if it clears up? That would be the obvious thing. The other things that could cause you random pimples, a rash, or acne are less obvious and include shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, fabric softener, cologne (yours or someone else's that you might come into contact with on your face). Has the weather gotten warmer recently? Did you start a new sport? Did you suddenly go vegan?

The breaking out could also be coincidental to your sleep problems. You don't mention your age. Consider that people of all ages develop new cases of acne. I had perfect skin in my teens, 20s, and 30s. In my early 40s I developed acne! Honest to God! Eventually I started using ProActive, and I still use it, and that keeps my skin perfect, but I'm in my late 50s, and if I don't use it for a few weeks, I break out again. So you could be developing acne--you don't have to be 13 to get it. Can't tell if you're female or male, but women's hormones change not just monthly, but at points in their fertile life. Hormones are often the culprit in breakouts. Of course, there are lots of other skin conditions that could be coincidental to the change in sleep pattern, or even triggered for the first time by the stress of poor sleep.

It could also be the sleep.

If you're eating before sleeping then yes, just make sure you don't slow your metabolism that way. Oh, it could also be the lack of water in your system, so make sure to keep your body hydrated so that it helps flush some toxins from your skin. Good luck.

Lack of sleep affects alot of things including your skin. My face does that too when i don't get enough sleep.

if you are drinking untill 3 am then that is your problem.

It sounds like you're probably stressed lately, and stress can cause you to break out.

my friend said that she gets a rash if she doesn't sleep enough, and that it happens to her dad too

i didnt believe her tho

Have you changed your pillow case? Also, when you finally go to sleep, are you exhausted? Exhaustion is stress and will cause breakouts.

Also, check your diet- sugars can really affect your complexion.

Yes actually. I had the same problem. Oils rub off your face and onto your pillow. Clean your pillow regularly and things should become slightly better. Good luck.

drink tons of water and/or green tea, to keep the moisture on your skin...

water - moisture
green tea - antioxidants

pimples often come up on dry & oily skin..

And also u should watch what you eat...

It's all related...

no sleep is not causing your skin... It has to do with your diet
Have you started eating different food? go back to your old eating habit

STRESS=Lack of sleep.
Lack of sleep=Bad skin.

i believe that there's something to do with it. For a week now i've been sleeping early, 10pm, then i wake up at 5am, and i realize that my skin looks somewhat better. Try to sleep early and wake up early than sleeping late and waking up late.

you might not be gettin enough sleep so you body is stressing out causing your skin to break out, or it could be that your bed sheets are just dirty, try changing them at least 1 a week and see if your skin improves.

i think i kno the problem. u have to sleep at 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm, and dont eat heavy things at night. for example, if u get hungry at night, eat any kind of fruit or vegetable. also ,if u get hungry in the night, dont eat sweets either. u also have 2 drink LOTS OF WATER. hope this helps and good luuck!! X3
