Hi
i am a nurse but work with OT's. Our OTs work with people with Learning disabilities or menatl health problems.
They work in a hospital in a department with specialist resources around them.
Communication challenges are that the people may not speak so you have to rely on non verbal body language or sign language or anything specific to that person. They may be aggressive so you would need to know how to deal with them. The work they do varies but i think they do a lot of art and craft therapies, relaxation therapies and therapies to help skill people up enough to help with future employment.
