Sleeping Behavior?!

Question: Im 15 and im on break from school and I don't go to bed until midnight or later sometimes if im bored 11 or possibly 10. The problem is I won't wake up for anohter 12+ Hours. Everyday i look at what time I go to sleep and then I look at what time I wake up and can't believe I sleep that long. I usually go to bed for school around 10 or 11 and wake up around 6:45 in the morning and am fully restored. Im not doing crazy physical activities everyday on my break that will weaken me alot making me sleep more. i try to sleep around 10 at night but it's hard with TV, Computer, family and friends staying up late. how can I control how long I sleep? Because Im wasting about half the day sleeping and that is not good. I know yours uppsoed to get around an 8 hour sleep not 12+ hours. One time over the break I went to bed at 12 and didn't wake up till 5 at night. Thats a 17 hour nap.

You are on Holiday! That means that you are entitled to throw away the Clock, the one that states you have to be up at 6.45 for school and in bed at 10, that is why it is called a Holiday. Get used to it because when you leave school and go to work, you are going to wish you were back at school with all that lovely time off, to catch up on sleep, but you might get two weeks a year if you are lucky. Then when you eventually retire, guess what, they will give you a Clock! Yep 50+ years of your life will be ruled by TIME and just when you retire and can throw the clock away, they give you one, go figure! Best of Luck

You are a teenager. It is perfectly normal (and healthy) to "catch up" on your sleep during the weekends. Some teens can sleep for 15 + hours with no problem. Just set an alarm if you want to get up earlier. The only problem you might want to consider is depression. Sometimes people with depression sleep a lot.
