Hey,

Sleep Apnea is when you stop breathing in your sleep due to an obstructed airway. Snoringnis basically sleep apnea to a lesser degree, but the same parts are in action. The tounge relaxes and the back of it slides to the back of your throat obstructing your throat. When your brain say's I need oxygen, it wakes you up just enough to fix the airway. Most people don't even know they are waking up.
Sleep insomnia is a sleeping disorder that keeps you from falling asleep or staying asleep, dispite your efforts. There are many causes for insomnia.

No these are not the same thing. However, sleep apnea could aggravate your insomnia if you had it.

Sleep apnea can happen to anyone. its just the way we are made. Some people have it due to trauma and surgeries. Some people snore and some people don't.

Sleeping pills do nothing for you. They have high addictive potential, and give you a false sense of sleep. They will seem great at first, but they will cause nothing but problems in used regularly.

People with sleep apnea get perscribed a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine, which keeps the airway open all night as you sleep, preventing you from waking from the sleep apnea.

so, no to pills. Try anything other than pills. Exercise, relaxation tapes, deep breathing, soft music, sound maker, etc

It is more work but worth it in the end

sweet dreams

Insomnia is when you can't sleep. Apnea is when you stop breathing when you sleep, which can wake you up during the night. Have a friend or parent moniter you one night to check your breathing, or go to the doctors. Apnea isn't really that serious, as long as you remember to START breathing again. ;)

people who have sleep apnea are not usually aware that they have it, its their partners or family members who tell them.....
you should know if you have insomnia for obvious reasons.

before you try sleeping pills, research relaxation techniques... theres loads to try.

Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I take a benadryl instead of a sleeping pill. It works great and has no risk of dependence or a "hang over" the next morning.
