My foot sticks outwards, why is this? and what can i do about it? please?!

Question: Basically, my left foot is at almost 45degrees out although my knee is pointing forwards..when i turn my foot in my knee is then pointing at the same angle in...so i cant walk like it. It's been like it for a long time...but it dont think its been like it forever, What could have caused this to happen? Is there anything I can do to cure it?

When I was a teenager I walked with my feet out and got tired of people calling me a duck so I made every effort to point my feet in. Not sure how long it took but now I walk with my feet pointed forward. It feels weird to think about keeping your feet forward, but in time you'll walk normal. Oh and get rid of your existing shoes. They won't help, as they are worn in with your walking pattern. New shoes will help keep your feet forward.

EDIT: Regarding your comment about knee hurting. My knee also had a pain when I did it. But as I continued to force my foot forward the pain went away eventually.

Go see a doc... My doc told me my walking with my feet out was out of habit (not medical) and I needed braces to correct it. I didn't want braces, so I forced myself to correct the problem..

its probably genetic, my mom has that and she got it from her dad. she put a type of shoe sole in her shoe a certain way so its not so bad now but i cant explain how to put the shoe sole in you have to figure it out sorry :(

elective surgery get your leg broken

It could just be from habit. Try purposely walking with your toe pointing inward. If you can do it without severe discomfort, then it probably isn't because of deformed bones. If you are very concerned about it, consult your physician and see about corrective shoes or maybe wearing a brace around the house. You should be able to get it corrected in a reasonable amount of time.

I had something like that with my right foot. It was from an injury when I was a child. The doctor fixed the break in that leg but my knee and hip were damaged too and left untreated. A few years ago I went to a chiropractor about something else and he detected the problem, adjusted my hip and knee and I don't have that problem now.
