Hey there sweet pea ? 300mg daily ?? That's precisely where your problems stem from ~ google the manufacturer's name and the name Effexor XR , brrrrr, **shudder as i type it*** and read the list as long as your arm of the side affects this stuff causes. The antidepressants you are on are doing a fine job of robbing you of your precious B complex of vitamins and without vitamin B12 (part of that complex) you will never assimilate enough iron so you would therefore be displaying all the symptoms of iron deficiency anemia.

A deficiency in vitamin B12 will produce symptoms such as fatigue an exhaustion, headaches and migraines, numbness and tingling and prickling sensations in the outer extremities, dizzy spells, fainting and loss of balance, heart palpitations and chest pains, excessive sweating, excessive urination and dry mouth, nausea and vomiting, depression, insomnia and constipation, irritability and moodiness and an inability to think clearly ....Quite scary actually if you don't realise the vitamin factor.

vitamin B12 is essential for the effective assimilation of iron, therefore, if you are deficient in B12 you will never assimilate your iron effectively and will be displaying symptoms of iron deficiency anaemia ie ~ dizzy spells, loss of balance, fatigue and exhaustion and fainting.

Eat more foods rich in vitamin B12 ie: organ meats such as lambs fry and kidneys, skimmed milks and cheeses, fish and eggs.

Eat more foods rich in iron ie ~ red meat, clams, dried peaches, farina, egg yolks, oysters, nuts, beans, asparagus, blackstrap molasses is a rich source of iron and oatmeal.

Iron assimilates more effectively when consumed with foods rich in vitamin C ie; citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, tomatoes and potatoes, leafy green vegies and red and green peppers.

If you are lactose intolerant or vegetarian then it is really important that you supplement your diet with a multi B complex tablet on a daily basis and focus on meat free iron rich sources as i've mentioned above.

Other things that could be robbing you of your precious B complex of vitamins are :- eating too much protein, alcohol, eating too much tinned food, antiobiotics, penicillin, prednisone and aspirin and otc cold and flu medicines, the oral contraceptive and eoestrogen supplementation.

Also, try to cut back on drinks such as caffeine, tea, sodas and soft drinks as they are all B complex thieves........ as well as being great at dehydrating you.

Take a multi B complex tablet including all the B's ie: B1, B2 B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best synergistically (together)............ do not buy these vitamins individually unless under the specific instructions of your Doctor or a Naturopath.

The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy neural, digestive and immune system functioning.

The B complex of vitamins is a water soluble complex and as such our bodies can neither store or produce them. Therefore we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the consequences as you unfortunately are

When you take your daily B complex supplement ensure that you take it with some type of calcium rich food ie: low fat cheese or milk or a calcium supplement containing vitamin D3 as they all work in conjunction with one another ie ~ without vitamin D3 you will never efficiently absorb your calcium and without calcium and B6 you will never absorb B12 and without B12 you will become anemic............?

sorry it's a bit long winded but you need to know all this.

When our bodies are placed under added stress such as sickness, relationship dramas, new job, school studies or just daily life really, the B complex of vitamins are usually the first group to get used up and we therefore need to adjust our intake accordingly.

When you are getting any stress related symptoms or any of the above mentioned symptoms simply take another B tablet. As they are water soluble our bodies will simply excrete any excess in our urine.

Eat more foods rich in magnesium too. Magnesium is known as the antistress mineral and will do wonders for your stress levels hun............. ie ~ leafy and green vegies, cold water fishes such as tuna, sardines, salmon and whiting, wholegrain breads and cereals and ground up nuts and seeds (ground up to aide in digestion of same.... Magnesium is needed in our bodies for healthy nerve and muscle functioning and of course for heart health . Foods rich in magnesium will also cure an acid tummy and increase the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy thus aiding in digestion and eliminating any issues with constipation you may have ?

Oh, a good way to check if you are anaemic is to pull the bottom lid of your eyelids down and take a look at the skin inside ~ if it is pink or reddish looking that indicates healthy iron levels ~ if it is pasty and white then you are anaemic?

Drink loads of fresh filtered water too as the happiest and healthiest body will always be the most hydrated one.

I weaned off Effexor XR 600mg daily a few years ago now, so i pretty much know precisely what you are going through....... i suffered enormously with digestive problems, headaches and migraines, fatigue and exhaustion and insomnia ........... i, unfortunately was misdiagnosed as bipolar / schizophrenic and they pumped me full of that sludge for 5 years until i got rediagnosed and they worked out that the symptoms they had assumed were bipolar/schizophrenic were actually alcoholic pschycosis !! hmmmmm, anyhoo, i'm fighting fit these days with no health problems and certainly no drugs in my system................ but i'm concerned for you hun. Please support your system with a B complex to help you deal with the stress the meds are producing. Talk to a fully qualified naturopath or nutritionally oriented physician and see if this would be suitable for your situation.......... i can assure you that it is though ?

I sincerely wish you the best of health & vitality buddy?

Peace & light 2 u ?

CHEERS
?

****edit****

Oops !! nearly forgot !!

If you are having trouble digesting your tablets go get yourself some organic apple cider vinegar and put 2 tablespoons full into a glass, mix up and drink up........ the apple cider vinegar will increase the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy and aid in digestion. Ensure you buy organic as the commercial varieties have had way too much of the goodness taken out of them to be used therapeutically. ........ also ensure that you shake well before using to disperse the mother (active ingredient) throughout and that you drink it through a straw to protect the enamel on your teeth ?

******

maybe you are just depressed... get out and do something, have fun =D

have you thought about getting your thyroid checked? You could have an underactive thyroid. Often extreme fatigue is a sign. do you crave salt and love it and want to put it on everything? That's another sign. Thyroid problems run in my family. It can make you feel very tired and you are always wanting to sleep.

If not, are any of the meds you are on have something that make you sleepy? that is a common mistake. May want to look into that.

I hope you get your energy back soon!!! I wish you luck

i had the same problem except bp, but my doc told me that i had needed iron in my diet. u should see ur physician for this problem if it's been going on for more than a year.

exercise with friends!

If you are that tired Mel, go see your doctor. There are so much that can be done now. Talk to him, see what he can do for you. Sounds as if you can be anemic which can cause tiredness.
