Really itchy sunburn!?!

Question: OK, so i went to the beach Friday and put very little sun block on..... [dumb idea] and most if it probably wore off. So i was in the sun about 3 or 4 hours and it was pretty cool out and it didnt feel like i was getting burned. So when i got home, i finally realized how bad my sunburn was [i was REALLY red].
On Friday my sunburn felt normal, it hurt but just burned, and the same thing happened saturday, just fine. But today [Sunday] i woke up and took a shower. In the shower i started to get really itchy, i just thought it was something weird so i got out and dried off. After i dried off i told my mom i was REALLY itchy. Thats when it started really bad. Wherever i got burned, it felt like needles were going into my back, so i was squirming around. I took 2 small benagrils[sp] and put some aloe on my back. After going through the suffering it finally stopped. Then later in the day it happened again. Can someone please help me cure this weird thing. THANKS

You burned your nerve endings. That's why it itches. Benadryl for the itching. Aloe Vera for the skin to take away the burn and cool the skin.

Hopefully you will not peel. It depends on how bad the sunburn is.

Oh, for the next several day STAY OUT OF THE SUN.

Cheers!

put some lotion on

buy some aloe vera, it really helps to cool down ur skin.

Buy Aloe Vera

crack a few eggs and rub them all over you.......

Aloe vera works wonders!

lytocaine

Use aloe gel!! More then likely your going to peel (hence the itching), so keep your skin well hydrated..

Its probably itchy now because the skin is dry and going to start flaking off soon. Instead of Benadryl, you should probably take an anti-inflammatory, and moisturize. Maybe try one of those after-sun type products.

Keep taking the Benadryl and putting the aloe lotion on it. As the dead skin cells peel off the itching will stop.

Thats happened to me before but not serious like you explain it...mine went away about 3 or 4 days later....just try to keep putting some aloe on it and DONT scratch it...if it lasts more than a week you might want to see the doctor :)

dude its not r fault so stop asking us. and next time put on more sun block

Well good news is that it's itching that means it is getting better. I suggest that you take some Ibuprofen for the pain and that will minimize any swelling, then there is this spray you can buy at the drug store called ladicain it's for burns but it has aloe in it and this numbing solution so it will relive the itching and pain. I know this will work because I got a sun burn one time and thought I was dying the itching was worst then the burn. I actually whent to the hospital and thats what they told me to do. Hope this helps.

There are several creams, ointments and lotions made from aloe vera that are manufactured commercially. There are also herbal shops that sell homemade aloe vera products for sunburns.

After taking a shower, you should pat your skin dry and apply the aloe vera lotion or moisturizer on damp skin. Keeping your skin hydrated with aloe vera lotion can relieve pain, inflammation, itching and redness.

Aloe vera gel or juice is also used by patients in the hospital suffering from first and second degree burns. For a speedier recovery from sunburns, keep the affected area moist all the time with aloe.

I'm wondering if you used overly hot water to take a shower. If you did that would be like adding fuel to the flame. Seems like no one knows how sunburn they are until they get home. It's always that way, worse when at home. The first thing we would do to our children, and it really works, and you won't care for the smell, is we rubbed the burns with Heinz White Vinegar. It will not only help with the burn, but will also help with the itching. Instead of aloe use Noxzema Creme. It goes on cool and cleanses the skin. The smell of the vinegar will dissipate, but it's better than the burn and itching. You may get some blisters and then they will dry out and the skin will begin to peel and new skin Will appear. That's a natural body function, sort of like a snake shedding its old skin and crawling out with new. The Benadryl will help the itching but Will also make you sleepy and side effects come along with it. Vinegar will do the same for the itching, besides after a while letting the vinegar to its work, you can apply the Noxzema. Wind will also add to the sunburn. I don't know if you were just laying out in the sun, or swimming and walking around or whatever, that much sun will make you look older in a few years, older than what you really are, because in time your skin will start to wrinkle. Good luck to you.

drink more water, apply lotion, and gently exfoliate in the shower. think prevention next time.
