They say if the burned area is larger than 3 inches, involves your hands and is blistered (2nd degree), you should go the the ER immediately. If it is a 1st degree (the skin is very red and swollen) keeping cool water on it will help, but you'll need some kind of aloe (100%, or as close as you can find, you can use a real plant, too if you have one), or some kind of cream on it to not scar. I found Burt's Bees Banana and Bee's Wax Hand cream to be exceptional for burns. The scarring seemed less, also. I also used it for bad sunburns. Take some Motrin, for the pain and swelling. Try to keep your arm above your heart, that helps a little with the pain. I feel for you, I had hot soup accidentally spilled on me as a kid. A burn is one of the most awful pains in the world. Hope this helps.

Just put ice on it. And then....put neosporin and put something over it.

put vasaline on it fast!!!!!!!!!!

If you can put aloe on it, do NOT put butter on it, it will only hold in the heat

Put some savila on.

neosporin or penatin.. shouldn't scar if you moisturize it!

Run it under cold water for about 15 minutes.

put a wet cloth on it

keep running it under cold water. Unless it is a more serious burn (ie. blisters etc.) that should be fine.

keep it cool, with ice. When the burning stops put some ointment....not butter!!!

put mustard on it. weird, but it works.

may have to go the emergency room or try reading this if you want to handle it at home http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/first-a...

ice it and then you can buy this anti scar cream that's called maderma you can get it at pharmacies!

Do NOt put any lotions or oils on Do not put Vaseline or any petroleum products Ice is the best and a loose bandage after the swelling and blistering in down

nice. everyone anwsers your burn question but one one anwserd mine... thanks everyone!

it will be ok, there are different degrees of burns. based on the fact that you said it only hurts a little it prolly wont scar. but stuff like neosporin will help avoid a big scar. if it blisters leave the blister alone, it will heal on its own. just keep ice/ cold water on it

not only does neosporin keep from scarring, but it relieves the pain for than ANYTHING. not water or ice or a cold cloth could do that. i get burned all the time being as that i work at a movie theatre with hot oil and popcorn, i carry neosporin in my pocket : )
