My 11 year old fell off his bike?!

Question: And hit the handle bars when he fell.
He says he hears & feels a pop when he tries to move.
He has minimal swelling & almost no bruising after 20 minutes.
Am trying to get a hold of his doctor.
My mom said not to take him to the emergency room.
But since his doctor hasn't answered yet I am unsure of what to do.

The doctor is going to tell you to take him to the emergency room. You didn't say what body part he hit on the handle bars.

He hears and feels a pop where?

Our insurance company requires us to use "prudent layperson guidelines" when deciding to go to an emergency room. If there is no apparent bleeding/bruising or malformation that would indicate a break, I would recommend the RICE treatment, Rest Ice Compression and Elevation. You will probably see an orthopedist in the office tomorrow and they can x-ray and evaluate it then, and also cast if needed. If you went to the ER---they would only put a temp cast on you today and send you to the ortho tomorrow, so save your money!!!

Good luck!

if he hears and feels a pop when he trys to move any of his body parts that is not a good sign andu need to take him to the ER

dont wait for the doctor to call u back...he will most likly tell u to do that any way...

put ice on the injury and try to keep it as immobile as possible to keep form injuring it any further
