If he's really a paraplegic, he will be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. You can listen to him, help him reach things he can't, take him places and just continue being his friend. It will be hard. He knows you can't do the things together you used to, and you will be apart more than you were before. If you are really his friend, you will give him time. Watch a movie with him. Call often. Ask him what he'd like you to do. Just be available.
