What the heck kinda pain killer is this!?!

Question: My husband stubbed his toe really bad months ago and broke it, and rebroke it yesterday. he showed his boss his nasty, bruised toe.. and the sent him to the emergency room. they gave him a pill called naproxen, and both of us has never heard of it. i've googled it and i know its an anti inflammatory and stuff like that.. but we just want to know.. what other pain killers does this compare to. basically i want to know so if theyre 'good' i can hide them from him so he doesnt just pop them for fun. but.. any additional info can help.

Naproxen is nothing more than ALEVE.

It is just strong Advil.

Aspirin.

It is a NSAID

It's not really a narcotic painkiller, it's mostly along the lines of an anti inflammatory just higher dose than OTC.

you can actually buy it over the counter as Aleve.

Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory drug used to reduce pain.

Naproxen can be bought OTC under the names Aleve and Naprosyn

Naproxen is just a higher dose thus you needing the prescription.

Its not gonna get him high if thats what your worried about.

How much is each pill?

When it gets up to about $5.00 per pill, you got some good medication.

The Rat

A stubbed toe or even a broken toe unless it is real bad isn't really something that any legit doctor is going to give you something stronger for. It sounds like someone may have a little abuse problem since you are using the term 'popping them'.
If he's old enough to be married tell him to 'man up' and stop using medications as recreation. Normally a doctor would tape his toe to abother one and tell him to get on with his life.
Someday he may be like me and have to take the damn things and it's not a cool deal then. Here are a few links you might like to look at.

Naproxen is the same thing as Aleve!! Check out th boxes..Naproxen is just the Generic name where as Aleve Ect ect are th brand names!

Hun, Naproxin is an anti-inflammatory and pain reducing drug that must be takes up to to two weeks before it starts to work. I also take this drug for a recent back surgery. According to my Neurosurgeon the drug eventually enters the bones and muscles to assist healing. I take 500 MG. twice daily.

To get a better understanding of what Naproxin actually is google: Naproxen EC.

Go to the pharmacy where you purchased the drug if you have ant other questions. Pharmacists are very good about taking time to explain more fully what the drug does than a Dr. believe it or not. The woman above who said this drug is the same as Alieve is full of "crapski" It ain't even close!

Have a good day. - See ya,
