Is An Aircast For 3 More Weeks A bit Much?!

Question: I delayed treatment, for 5 weeks, When the pain got so bad I was forced to see the doctor, to find a grade 2 sprain, involving ligaments and tendons on both sides and front of the ankle. I also had some nerve damage, that was the shooting pain I was feeling.

Was put in an aircast and told to use crutches for 2 weeks. I was told I can start walking but I was to be very careful and to keep resting it as much as possible and to keep aircast on another 3 weeks no exercise. Then 4 weeks of only light activity.

I still have pain on the inside of the ankle and when I walk I feel pain across the front, Every now and then I get a shot of pain up the leg but walking is not as painful as before.

I have had 5 sprains on this ankle since last March and this was the first time I ever saw a doctor for a sprain in 22 years of spraining both ankles. This was not my worst looking sprain just one that would not heal.
Am I being overtreated because of my history or is this normal treatment.

For the kind of injury and pain you are describing this sounds pretty normal, hope it gets better soon tho

Seems pretty normal
