Help with Fentanyl withdraws and Medicine question please?!

Question: My wife has been on Fentanyl patches for 6 months. She has cronic back pain and nerve damage, Permantly disabled 38 years old. She started on 50mcg every 3 days and has progressed to 75 every 2 days.Insurance would only cover so many and we had to shell out for the rest,very expensive. Couldnt afford them plus she has stayed sick and other problems associated with the Fentanyl.
Her last patch ran out of "juice" on Friday night March 28th. Her DR. knew our plan and has given other meds to get through with another appointment on the 8th. She is taking percocet 7.5 - kolonapin 1mg and fenagrim{anti sick med that I cant sp}
My problem is that she cant move and hasnt moved since friday night. Has only eaten 2 pcs of bread, 2 glassses of water. Litteraly has not moved from the couch but twice in 3 days.I thought she may would get better by now. Im having to work,cook, and help do homework with kids etc. What else can I do to for her?How long will this last? she cant even speak.

You better talk to her doctor my friend and explain this situation. Fentanyl withdrawal, overuse of Percocets and all the above is not good. This can turn into a very devasting situation. Withdrawal from Fentanyl is gonna be unlike any chrisis she ever had to face and it is gonna be hell for both of you, mainly her of course. Is she never felt opioud withdrawal, this is gonna be an absolute nightmare. She is gonna need something. Prompt medical advise. ASAP!

If she cannot speak and has not gotten up, I would be greatly concerned that she is overdosing on the percocet.

In addition, withdrawal from a narcotic places particular stresses on the body that can lead to seizures, heart attacks and strokes. Fevers, and abdominal pains are signs of withdrawal.

You need to either get in touch with her doctor asap or better yet (since he seems to be the one overdoing her meds), call 911 and get her to a hospital to manage withdrawal and/or overdose. NO ONE should not be able to move or sleep.

Once you get through this, she really needs to be in a pain management program- they have a lot of specialized meds and techniques and are much better able to manage pain.

Good luck.

I am on Fentanyl two years and I assume when the time comes, another ten years where I can come off it, they will wean me off. Outside of the first few days of vomiting, I have not had any side effects. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, prolapsed disc in my spine: hence Fentanyl as they will not operate unless I loose my bowel and bladder function. I was put of permanent Disability age 40, because I refused to go on it before.
Fentanyl will not do anything for 'nerve pain' that is a different drug. As she has taken to her chair it sounds to me as if she has also succumbed to depression, which can happen all too easily! You see other people of the same age doing normal things, but you cannot do it. Likewise you wonder what life will be like at 50, 60, 70, let alone if you will live that long! Therefore I suggest you phone the Doctor and tell them what is going on! Best of Luck
