your tendons are inflamed and need to be stretched out. I am in construction and have had the same issue.
The best fix I found was to get a glass coke bottle. The coke bottle has a unique shape to it and if you lay the bottle down on the carpet or floor, you place the arch of your foot into the depression of the coke bottle and gently roll the bottle back and forth.Because of the shape of the bottle it helps to make the tendon stretch and slowly bo back to it's usuall size. It may take a week to get it stretched but this really works and can give you pain relief like no medicine can
good luck
Sounds like you may have stepped on a police spike strip left behind from the weekend, try a different route, better town, etc.
