Question: I don't need a stitches or anything, I just want to know just to know

In general, a full-thickness cut through all the layers of the skin that is at least one cm in length. A shallow or tangential cut (at an angle) may or may not be sutured. That's because a very shallow cut that is at an angle will not heal very well. The very edge of the skin, where it is the shallowest, will not have any blood supply and so the skin will die. Sutures will create a greater risk of infection. What we usually do in that case is cut away the white edge of the skin (no blood supply and therefore likely to not survive) cover it with a good antibiotic and a see-through bandage like Telfa, and allow it to grow back in from the bottom up. Also, a cut that is older than 6 hours old is likely to have bacterial growth into the wound. In such a case, sutures will only bury the bacterial deeper into the wound and cause a deep infection. So again, an older wound will not be sutured. Finally, if you are working in a contaminated environment (slaughter houses, sewage, etc) then even more care will be needed to avoid infection. Finally, there must be two sides that can be pulled together to be sutured. By that I mean that if you slice the tip of your finger while cutting vegetables, for instance, then there's nothing to suture - it's all been cut off. Once again, a covering will be applied and the tip of the finger will be allowed to grow in. That's of course, in the case where you didn't slice the entire finger off.

hmm.........

depends on the bleeding & location of the wound???
