Trying to striaghten back but getting pains in the process?!

Question: Hi. So I've gotten used to sitting hunchback whenever in a seat, and it has changed my posture. It's also caused my frame to somewhat bend over (I know nasty, I really regret this) so it's not straight but at a curve. I didn't notice this until recently.

Anyway, the problem is, I'm trying to force myself to sit up completely straight all the time. I have a $70 Obus Forme cushion to help me out since I've had back problems before. The problem is my upper (center) back, both sides are starting to hurt and I can tell that if I continue to straighten my back, it will hurt like hell. I think it's because the muscles there are weak, since with my previous hunchback posture, those muscles weren't used. What do you recommend me to do? I want to keep a straight formation but not hurt myself doing it. Thanks.

Start to exercise the back muscles by doing crunches or sit ups. i know horrible but it works! sometimes even going up the stairs with your back straight can really help :) you need to make sure your not straining your back too much in the doing :)

how old are you? have you had any traumatic injuries? have you ever been in an accident? what does the pain feel like? does it radiate or "shoot" anywhere?
