My ear hurts when I turn my earring?!

Question: I got my ears pierced in January and at the beginning of March I replaced the originals with some new ones (real gold). Apparently I am supposed to turn them, but when I turn the left one, my ear really hurts and turns red. Also, if I leave it for a while it sort of catches onto the skin. Is this normal? Should I leave it?

Sounds like your ear is trying to close the hole of the piercing. You really need to turn the ear rings more often.

Take out the left ear ring, clean the ear area with rubbing alcohol, soak the ear ring in the rubbing alcohol for 1 min. and replace the ear ring in your ear.

Repeat the cleanings as needed until the redness goes away.

I guess you should remove it for a few days but the best thing is to check with a doctor... you might be allergic...

Well, if only one hurts, that probably isn't normal. Maybe it's just the earings though. Did you have any problems with the originals?

I would take out the earring and dab the bit that goes through your ear in petroleum jelly before you try again. The earring should have no troubles turning if you do that every once and a while. sometimes it just catches on the scar tissue. nothing major

HAVE SEX it will all go away.....

Yes, it is due to fluid drainage from the ear. Clean both your earrings and your ear with alcohol 3 or 4 times a day.

is it really real gold?? anyway doesnt matter first try peroxide to see if it helps...put some in the cap and then dip your ear in it...u can keep your earings in for now then turn them right after dipping...do this at least 3x a week then go to once a week should clear up..

you could be allergic to gold...but sense they are newly pierced it is normal especially if you move it or irritate it. Ive had mine for 16 years and they still do that

You may not have left the original studs in long enough. I can't remember exactly how long to leave them in when first pierced, but the skin around your hole may not have been fully healed and it sounds like it is still trying to heal.
Make sure you are still cleaning them before you turn them. Use peroxide or the original cleaning product the store should have given you when you got them pierced. Take the earring out that's bothering you and sit it in peroxide for about 30 seconds to a minute and clean your hole while the earring is out before putting the earring back in. (don't try dipping your ear in the peroxide like someone else suggested .... that's just stupid)
Also keep turning them, it's to make sure the skin doesn't try to grow around the earring while healing. Continue cleaning and turning the earrings a few times a day until they are fully healed! Don't change the earrings again until they are fully healed either!! That could cause more irritation.

Use green alcohol. When you turn the earring slightly pull up. If it is sticking put Neosporin around the earring and turn it a few times pulling it up and down. Leave it for a while(3-4 days) and if it still hurts, see a doctor.

You need to clean the original studs and put them back in. You changed them too soon. Your ears needs to heal first, THEN you can change them.

its ear infection. yes leave it alone the drug store sells this liquid that you can clean your ear with and the earing. good with 100 percent gold too

Only use rubbing alcohol & antibiotic ointment on your ear.
Keep turning earrings a few times/day.

Hydrogen peroxide will help close the hole!!! DO NOT USE.

I would put my studs back in and leave it for a little while the left ear may not be completely healed. Keeping turning and cleaning. Go ahead and remove them each day and clean them and put them back. Keep the studs in for another few weeks and then when you put new earing in wear them for daytime and sleep in your studs.
