I had the surgery where?!

Question: they put a metal piece and screws in my arm. But now my wrist is inflexible. They looked at the wrist with a scope, but the metal is on the arm part.

How long will it take before my wrist is flexible...and will my arm ever be solid enough to trust it after they sawed it and screwed it back?

I had similar surgery to repair the radius bone which had shattered in a car accident. I have been very disappointed in my inability to move my wrist the way it used to move. I can still do most normal activities. I can do push ups and play golf but I can't throw a ball or play racket sports very well at all because of the stiffness. I used to be a massage therapist and didn't have any problems giving a good massage, but I had to limit the number of massages I could do in a day because of discomfort. I never had the metal material taken out of my wrist (I hated the 1st surgery and didn't want to go under the knife a 2nd time). If you let them remove the metal, it might help. If you are fairly young, I would expect that it will get much better in the next few months. I was in my 40's when I broke mine. Healing takes longer when you get older.

Its going to take a while for your wrist to be flexible physical terapy helps.

If it isn't flexible; you need start going to Physical therapy. They can help ALOT with that.

Here is a link that you can get some good, free medical advice. Good luck, I have a plate and screws in my neck that bugs me too!! Just wait until you can start telling if it is going to rain because of the plate. You'll see what I mean.
