Just had this done in December and I will be VERY honest with you......HURTS LIKE HELL but extremely worth it. the good thing is after you have the procedure this will never happen again as the nail usually doesn't grow in again. Good Luck. It doesn't feel pleasant by any means but was worth it once it stopped hurting about two days later!

1. anywhere on the toe-for the big toe I got two, one on each side at the base of the toe.
2. 10+
3. Nope, can't be put to sleep....believe me I asked...LOL
4. procedure takes about 20 minutes or so once started, it's about an hour all together if you count waiting for your toe to numb.
5. It's done in the Dr's office, just go to a podiatrist
6. immediately, I drove home about thirty minutes after he done it...it was still numb so it didn't hurt to drive but once that numbing wears off....look out!

mine they gave nme a shot under the nail but it wasnt that bad, the sucking sound as they pulled the nail out was though

dont go to the hospital go to a podiatrist
i had this done 3 months ago
they give you the shot at the base of the toe
it numbs you pretty well, so you don't feel much
it only takes about an hour total
you should be able to walk the next day
hope this helps!

They will give you local anaesthesia by injection at the base of your toe, on both sides. This effectively numbs the whole toe. General anaesthesia (putting you to sleep) is not usually required as it carries risks of itself.
The surgery itself can be done in < half hours time. You usually can go home afterwards, no need to stay at hospital.

all you feel is a little prick from the needle, the y then remove the ingrown nail and part of your actual toe nail, this will prevent it from growing back, yes you can walk and drive afterwards but i would recomend soaking it in epson salt and taking a break. It will be a bit sore after. surgery will last about 10 minutes and you will be awake

Daughter has had ingrown toe problem many times. Go to a podiatist (foot doctor) You may get in same day since it is probably infected. Daughter said it was not that painful. (6) Shot was given on same toe, toe goes numb and the doctor does his thing. Whole thing was over in less than 45 min. She was driving the next day. Have sandels ready to wear for the next few days to give the toe some "space" It is likely the whole nail will be removed since both sides are affected. Good luck and you will be feeling better after it is over!
