I still have pain in my knee after my mri scan?!

Question: I've had a bad knee since Jan 08 after a sking holiday but was'nt sking at the time, I fell over on ice, I fell onto my left side,it did'nt start hurting until next day. I've had 2 x-rays done and a mri scan which both came back all clear. Im having physio and at first the physio said it could be a meniscus tear but its now not that. The symptons I have are: knee locking, pain when I walk like a grinding feeling as though it catches, swelling, unable to straighten knee fully or bend it fully,it feels very weak as though the leg is'nt there and gives way a lot. I saw consultant last weekfor the results of my mri,he said it would be a waste of time doing a Arthroscopy as the scan did'nt show anything so he has referred me to Rheumalogy although no Arthritis has shown up on the scan or x-ray.My G.P has given me anti-inflammatory tablets called Diclofenac sodium,I noticed a slight change for a few days but now back to square one again with it.Does anybody know what this could be. Thanks

You have been given anti-inflammatory drug because the knee is inflamed. Not sure how much you have been given? The best thing for inflammation is rest, ice or heat and some exercise. I would phone the GP and ask him if you can double the dose of anti-inflammatory to get you out of the 'acute' phase. Rheumatologist deal with problems in the muscle-skeleton area like inflammation, so the Rheumatologist might give you a nice injection to quell the inflammation. Nothing has shown on x-ray or MRI, so the joint and muscles, tendons are in tact, you just have inflammation. Best of Luck

I've heard the same before about my knee. Orthopedic Dr. put me on predisone and it felt so much better but it can also make you gain weight. You'll have to weigh it out. Possibly gain a little weight or a sore knee.

Have you seen an Orthopedic specialist?

Sounds like a Bakers Cyst to me. I have the same thing.
Eventually it popped and now I have fluid running down my leg.

I am sorry, I have to wonder about that MRI u had. Can you ask for a copy of the actual reading of it.?
I can explain it to you..
