Leg pain - I need advice, please!?!
Question: Hi,
I am a runner and I have been getting really bad pain on the outside of my lower leg that continues up through my knee and into my thigh. I stretch but it is just a shooting pain that won't go away. I have done the obvious things - taking time off, rest, ice, etc. but curious as to if anyone else has this problem and if so, I wonder what it's called so I can find out more about it. (It's not severe enough yet to go to the doctor but I'm a little nervous right now). Thanks!!!

BEING A PERSONAL TRAINER AND WITHOUT ACTUALLY EXAMINING YOU, BY YOUR REPORTS TEO THINGS COME TO MIND. 1ST IS A BIT SCARY....cOMPARTMENTAL sYNDRONE. 2ND sHIN sPLINTS. Sorry bout the caps. I hate this keyboard.
It could even be a stress fracture. Have a Physician or Dr. look at it.
omg i have had that same problem!!! it went away gradually as a friend of mine told me to stretch more. when i woke up, before i went to bed, before i ran, i stretched my muscles (leg muscles.)
it helped me alot!!! ok hope it helps...
It sounds as if you have the start of sciatica. I really hope not but I do believe that you should get it checked out by a doctor. Also, leg pain can come from something that has hurt your back. The entire body is all connected , mainly, to the back and its muscles. Just get a check up and it will stop your stress and let you know what is going on.
not sure but they could be shin splints? idk, i used to get those a lot when i first started running but i just ran anyways, and eventually they went away..
but if it's not shin splints i would say to stretch out, and ice your legs for a little while, and continue running.
I had that same problem in June. I was doing hurdles in gym and it was a shooting pain in my thigh, knee, and calf. It hurt so bad I felt like I was going to cry. i don't know what it's called, but my mom though I just pulled a muscle or something. i rested and put a lot of muscle rub on it. Within a week or two it started to fade, but when I started doing hurdles again it came back so I would just stay rested and see the doctor about it.
Maybe your fibula got detached. I would see an orthopedic doctor. Or, it could be something else totally. Seek professional help. Do not wait if it does not improve. You will feel better.
