Once the tubes are removed, does the ear return to normal?!

Question: My son is scheduled for tubes next week. I'm a worried mom. I understand the procedure being simple and quick and it wouldn't bother him. But what worries me is, after the tubes are out, eventually, does that scar the ear drum? Does it leave any side effect to the ear drum?

Youngest son had it done. I suffered more than him. It was quick, easy and he recovered completely in a short time without any side effects.

My grandson had it done when he was two, it was taken out when he was five, now he is 13 and his hearing is perfect.
And if he has scars on his eardrum only his doctor will know.
Before the tubes were put in, he had so many earaches, that had him mother, not had the tubes put in, his ear doctor said it could have affected his hearing.
