Put on ice for the first 24 hours. Heat will likely just increase bleeding and swelling. But see a doctor. He could have broken his orbital bone. If he has any blurring of vision he could have a corneal abrasion. If he is sensitive to light (photophobia) then the chance of corneal abrasion is increased.

Cold, and give him Benadryl for swelling.

put something frozen over it like peas,meat, ect. it reduces the swelling
