It is a poor drug. And thats the words of a Doctor. It should NOT be given to physically dependant people and it is not advisable for long term pain. It Is a narcotic. Don't believe anyone.

Be careful with this stuff. It is impossible to wean off of and you actually need a real pain pill to get off this stuff. It is horrible. Someone asked about it in on of my best answers.

THrow them AWAY! If you been taking conventional opiates already and you are to a degree dependant on them, ULtram IS NOT FOR YOU! Ultram makes people a lot of money. Not me, it almost killed me. 14 days into I prayed harder than I ever did and finally I realized it was not conventional opiate withdrawal I was dealing with. It was HELL! 7 times worse than Oxycontins. I was dealing waith a monster. I believed what I was told and had to do my own research on it and it wasn't easy. I finally found the most foremost Ultram scholars on the web.

ultram can give you yucky tummy. tell your pain guy it doesn't agree with you. but don't say that you want to get back on percocet, he'll think you are drug seeking.

Ultram is not as strong as Percocet, but is a (slightly) better medicine to use for long-term pain.

Strong narcotic short-acting meds like Percocet rapidly lose their effectiveness beyond 3-4 weeks. You end up needing more of them to get less effect. You can also create a situation with a type of "rebound" pain, which actually makes the original pain worse if you stop the medicine.

Neurontin is a good choice.

Chronic back pain sucks. Your best bet is to get the muscles of your back as supportive and strong as you can, and find a livable point between dealing with some pain and limits on what you can do, but not having to totally rely on medicines for relief.

i've had pain mgmt. issues for several years and have been on all the meds you mention. MDs really go overboard with their concern about addiction. tramadol made me so sick, it wasn't worth the bit of relief it gave me. you don't mention the dose of neurontin, but they increased my dose to the limit which helped - it's a seizure med which slows the nerve activity. i would talk to both MDs about getting back on percocet and keep track of when you take it and let them monitor the log. i'm sending a link to a great organization which has a free newsletter and email updates. they've had some great articles on pain mgmt and addiction. good luck in your recovery.

Please address the small dosage of Neurontin or Gabapentin with your DR. It is a woefully low dose that is probably just wasting your money. I too have taken Ultram a long time ago, and remember the bad feeling I got from them. You might ask about Norco to get you through your pain for now.
