How long does it take to heal a small open wound?!

Question: I accidentally cut myself on some corroded wires.
It bled and was quite deep.
How long does it take for such a wound to heal?
It's been a week, and the wound didn't close itself.
My family has a history of diabetes too, so I'm worried.

Wounds that a)don't stop bleeding and b)won't close usually require stitches.

Since you didn't get the stitches, it will take a good bit for it to heal on the outside since wounds really do heal from the inside out.

Keep it very clean. Bandaged during the day while you're using your hands. Let it breathe at night.

Use triple action antibiotic on it before a new bandage. Wash with soap and water as well.

If you are worried about infection, just the amount of redness and mark it with a pen or something if the redness extends beyond your boundary, time to go to the doc.

Since it was corroded wires......when was your last tetnus shot? If it wasn't in the last 5 years....you probably need a new one.

Hope that helps. If you're worried about the diabetes angle, have a check-up. One bad cut does not warrant worry in this area.

yeah put something on it, do it doesn't get infected?!
should take 2 weeks.

one month

Depends on if you clean it well and if you use neosporin or some other anti-biotic ointment.

Probably about 1 - 2 weeks.

Usually about 2-4 days but you could just have a weak immune system at the moment. If it's on your finger & you keep using your hand on dirty surfaces then it could take longer. Either way it sounds like you may have an infection now so you should probably see a doc.....

it takes 2weeks 4 skin cells to reproduce, so just wait 1 more week

There could be several things affecting the healing rate, not just diabetes!

1. The injury could be reopening as you move around.
2. The injury could be drying out and cracking.
3. The injury could be infected or have something inside it.
4. The injury could be jagged, which often takes longer to heal.

I would recommend that you put on an antiseptic cream, then keep the wound covered. This will help healing and help keep the wound closed. If it starts to have yellowish or greenish pus, or swell up and go shiny and red, or if you start to feel sick and dizzy, you should go to the doctor.

for me personaly about 4 days
