If i take two pills a day of hydrocodone for my back pain does say I am a addict!

Question: Two hydrocodone or Vicodin a day (guessing 10/325mg each?) is not much to be worried about. Be aware that the 325 stands for acetaminophen, can irritate the stomach. Really try to end their use when the back pain clears up as it is easy to get addicted to the narcotic in them. Cancer patients that take huge amounts of opiates like this drug become opiate-tolerant and because they are in such pain at times, they can function on them. But for those of us who aren't opiate-tolerant, a few extra pills can put you in an impaired state that could result in a vehicle accident or worse. Be careful. Hey we all get back pain, and the drugs are there to use, just be wise.

I would say no. If you have an honest issue and are only using the pain meds for the pain, and to be able to continue with your normal everyday things, then no.

Now if you were using it like that everyday, just cause, even when you have no pain, then I would say you might be addicted.

There is a fine line when it comes to pain meds and addiction.

if taking as prescribed for the pain and not the buzz then no but they are addictive

No. Addiction only happens when you use it for a high. Tolerance and withdrawal don't mean addiction, either--it just means your body is used to it. Very few chronic pain patients get addicted. I've been on and off serious narcotics for pain for 13 years (everything from tramadol to morphine and fentanyl) and I've never had trouble with addiction. When you're taking it all the time, all it does is make you function normally--not make you wacked out.
This is a new way of thinking for many people, but there's been tons of research into pain and pain control in the last decade. With this has been the change in the definition of addiction (to mean only the psychological addiction). It's better to use the pills than to suffer. Untreated pain makes it harder to heal and causes depression. So don't worry! You're just hurting (and that's a real low dose, honest!). That's fine!
