I have an unusual headache and need some advice....?!

Question: I have had a headache for going on three days. I've taken tylenol, allergy pills, used warm compresses on my neck and used head-on. Nothing has helped. I'm getting nervous because my mo had a stroke a few years ago and one of the first signs was a headache. I have no insurance to have it checked out, so there's more added stress. It feels like a sharp pain on the left side of my head every few seconds. Every once in a while it feels like there's some tingling, kinda feels like something crawling in there. that is the only way i can describe it. Any advice on what kind of headache this is or if i should be worried?

Most hospitals will see you even without insurance. Make sure it is a public hospital and not a private one. Take a paystub to prove income. If the hospital takes any form of federal funding they must treat you. With your proof of income they can greatly reduce the cost or charge nothing at all. They cant turn you away if they get federal funding. However, the doctors fees are a different story. The doctor can charge you but you only have to make 'good faith' payments ($5-10 a month).
This way you can see if there is a threat of a stroke, anneurism, or blockage that might be causing the pain.
The other solution, if you arent ready to make the hospital trip:
ICE on the scalp and neck. A dark room, relaxing music or silence. Lay completely relaxed (pillow under your head and shoulders and one under your knees) and if you must think of something, think BLUE. Picture only the color in your mind. Soft fluffy blue. I know it sounds strange but blue has a calming affect and PINK has a weakening effect.
Dont take anymore pills for at least 24 hours. Sometimes we can give ourselves headaches with the build up and cross affects of the pills we take.
Drink lots of water. No caffeine. Eat something with potassium (banana, orange).

*If the pain starts to become accompanied with dizziness- call 911 and get to the ER
Hope you feel better soon. If not, see a doctor or go to the ER

Yes you should go to the ER. They can't refuse you treatment. With a history of stroke in your family you shouldn't take chances.

me 2 but im 17 lol um go to the health food stores and buy a migraine preventative headache capsules pills ITS CALLED FEVERFEW its not that expensive its likt around six dollars it would go away because its herbal supplement and better then drugs go tommorow

Forget about insurance and how your going to pay for it. I don't mean to scare you but if your dead your won't have to worry about it anyway. Please go to the ER because I am pretty sure they can't turn you away. They have special agencies that can help you pay your hospital bills afterward so quit worrying about that. My husband (before we met) had to have emergency surgery and he didn't have insurance. Some kind of agency called him and told him that they would help him pay the bill. They ended up paying over half of it. I don't know if thats what they would do for you or anything I'm just trying to talk you in to going. Also as long as you send 10 dollars a month they can't do anything about it. Most hospitals can't charge a finance fee either. Please go get checked out.

Try using ice as it will relax the muscles, maybe alternate heat (makes my headaches worse) and ice. You need to try to relax as your stress will only make it worse. I take Excedrin Migraine with good results. Too much medicine can cause what is known as a "rebound headache" which is caused by taking too many meds (asprin. tylenol, etc...). Watch your diet (caffiene/sugar)and try the Excedrin migraine and cold compresses. If it doesn't get better quickly (a day or 2 at most) or gets worse go see a doctor.
