Strange pain??!

Question: I playing football earlier today and I stopped paying attention for a bit. Then I looked and saw the ball coming in my direction and I reached out for it as fast as i could. The ball didn't hit me but i got this weird pain in my arm.
It went from my wrist, up to my shoulder and up my neck, then spread out like a web in the back of my head.
It hurt the most at the back of my head and the least at my forearm.
I found it hard to move my whole body for about thirty seconds while the pain lasted and my vision got blurry.
It happened to me twice before in similar situations (stretching out my arm really fast), but i kinda ignored it.
It happened on my left arm the first time and then on my right arm the other two times.

If you know what that is and what i can do to prevent it, please tell my because it gets a little scary when that happens.
Thanks!

Hi, It sound like you stretched the muscle which tightens on the nerves and that is why it spread up to your head. How long does the pain last in your neck? You need to use ice on the muscles and after 24-48 hrs you can start using heat and it should help. Try taking a shower and relaxing for awhile. Why this happens?? The only thing i can tell you is that your muscles affect other things not just the muscles and when they are strained it can cause the nerves to be affected and yes it hurts bad. If you can avoid it try not to stretch the muscle the way you did again, by reaching out to the side and stretching the arm. If this is something that you want to do then you should exercise your muscles to be able to handle this action. Take care and good luck. I hope this helps and if i can answer further just ask.

The pain down your arm could be caused by the nerves around the shoulder, upper back or neck with such severe reaction I would advise seeing a doctor immediately. You may have a serious injury to the neck that needs some attention or support. I have had similar pains to what you describe after having whiplash, especially with shooting pain down my arm as I have arthritis in one shoulder.
Blurred vision can be a caused by extreme pain and/or neck or head trauma.
Be on the safe side and get it checked out.
Andy
