Sleeping Problem! help~!?!

Question: Hello
basically i sleep two times a day. 1:00am to like 9am? and when i get home i sleep b/w 5pm-7pm (1-2hrs?)
i never feel tired in school, but once i get home which is around 2pm, and go on computer for an hour or two my body starts to relax and get tired.
but after 9pmish my body becomes alert again, even if i skip 5-7pm nap, i wont be dead tired at 9PM
skipping those afternoon nap just lead to slight fatique up to 9pmish.

Now my question is: what way can i eliminate that afternoon nap, and preferably decrease my sleeping hours to 6hrs?

Being in school is a stresser that takes its toll on our minds and bodies. You need to avoid jumping onto the computer right away as this allows your body to relax too much too quick. It also tires your eyes and this can make you feel sleepy.
Instead try riding a bicycle, taking a dog for a walk, going for a run, play some basketball. These things will relax you without making you feel the eye fatigue.
After this a warm shower will revitalize you enough to do homework and still sleep at a decent hour.
Breaking up your sleep will also make you feel tired both mentally and physically. Try to get into a routine of going to bed at a certain hour. Stay in bed even if you cant sleep. Move the computer and tv and stereo our of your room so you arent tempted to use them when you cant sleep or are having trouble going to sleep.
Set your alarm to get up at a certain hour and then GET UP even if you still feel tired. It will be easier to go to sleep the next night.
However, if you are a teenager, this is next to impossible. Studies have shown that teens get an adrenaline boost towards evening (no one knows why yet) and this keeps them awake long after the ideal time for sleep. (Still cant figure out why they start school so early if the students are so tired).
Dont try to decrease your sleep to less than 8 hours. Your body and brain need at the very least 8 hours of rest to regenerate the brain chemicals that keep our tempers in check, allow us to recall what we learned the day before, keep our metabolism in prime condition, keep our emotions level, and basically allow body and mind repair.

I think you should do more excercise when you come home from school rather than going on the computer.eg.go for a run (or jog.) And i also think, yes, you should make your part sleeps into one.

Finds something else to do during that time period..

hi, yes, your body is used to the sleeping pattern you have created for yourself. if you sleep the usual 1am to 9am, you have gotten enough sleep already. if you want to sleep less, you def need to cut out the afternoon sleep. i think you should change up your routine and go to the gym at that time so that you use up your time doing something diff. that way your body will get used to that, and you won't feel tired like u do. and, for a week, you may be tired bec you didn't take your nap in afternoon, but put up with it, and you will be fine until u get used to it. good luck.

Decreasing your sleeping to 6 hours is not a good idea. You should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night. Naps are not a good idea. The reason you are stuck in this sleeping pattern is because that is what your body has gotten used to. The best way to adjust it is to go to sleep earlier than 1a.m. (maybe around 10 or 11) and keep that 'bed time' regular, and keep your waking time regular. When you feel sleepy during the day it is due to your CDA (clock dependent alerting) during the day, after school in the early afternoon is when your CDA is at it's lowest and that is when you will be more prone to sleepiness. Another reason you probably sleep so frequently is probably due to a sleep debt. Your body will only sleep when it needs to. There is no such thing as over-sleeping. So keep your 'bed time' and 'wake time' regular and get enough sleep (about 8 hours).

First of all stop getting on the computer or doing anything else that requires you sit for a long time. Stay on your feet and keep busy doing anything that requires some physical activities. Maybe you need to cut that sleep time down to 7 or even 6 hours. Sometimes if you get too much sleep, that will make your tired. As long as you get the same amount of sleep time every night, wether it be 5,6,7 hours, you should be fine. It will catch up with you later on, but that's why most people sleep in on the weekends. You may have an Iron deficiency. Don't eat a lot of sweets. Lots of things work differently on different people. Just stay active and don't give your body the chance to fall asleep until bedtime. Use a loud wind up alarm clock to wake you and if you keep thinking the time you want to get up when going to bed, your mind will do it for you. Won't need a clock at all, just safe to have one in case your mind doesn't wake you.
