Lip wound?!

Question: So I have braces on the bottom of my teeth, and my friend and I were messing in class....well...in short, he accidentally punched me on my mouth. It wasn't a big blow at all, but my braces tore my bottom lip open. It immediately bled for about 3 minutes, and after a few paper towels on it, it stopped bleeding. Then, I went to the nurse about 20 minutes later, and she told me that it was nothing, and that it wasn't deep enough to scar. It's ON my lip, like, as if I just tore a good piece of it out. I have a doctor appointment, coincidentally, for my sinuses today, so I will go ahead and ask him about my lip Should I be worried about anything? The nurse just gave me some ice, and it helped. It's still kinda swollen...my smile is crooked, but can I still use chapstick or na? And how can I prevent scarring?

You have nothing to worry about. The lips are the fastest healing muscles in the body. If you wana use chapstick, use the medicated kind till you see it heals. But your lip is gona be fine.
