Question: I have this girlfriend who gets a 'stich' just under her ribcage after 10 minutes of her aerobics class... whats causing this ? how can she avoid it ? she doesnt eat anything for a hour beforehand and drinks 2 litres of water a day. she is not overweight and is in her 20's ? any solutions ?

Hi there..
I was watching a program about this actually, not so long ago, i think it was Brainiacs.. anyway, they did some 'tests' with about 5 people, to see who got Stitch the fastest and why.. and also, they tried various techniques to see which of the various techniques to get rid of the Stitch worked best.

The things which appeared to cause the stitch worst were ~ drinking whilst exercising, eating whilst exercising ( i know, kind of ridiculous! lol), running/exercising slightly off centre with the body (causing more strain on one side, such as when running), and just breathing through the mouth when exercising.
They're all pretty vague, and apparently nobody reeally knows exactly why we get the stitch ~ but what it IS is a contraction of the diaphragm i believe.
Anyway, the ways of CURING the stitch they tried on this program that appearedf most effective were... pushing very firmly exactly where the stitch is, whilst gently jogging around to work it off... also, lying on her back and pulling the leg on the side of the stitch firmly into her chest for a minute or two was most effective.
Hope this helps your lovely lady a little... stitch is no fun at all :(
Luv, Pookz. xxx
.

i get pain in my heart and in my side of my hip but it goes away if i start breathing slow and less but i just manage it and im used to it..... i dont think its anything serious.... just muscle cramps thats all....

its been happening to me since i was like 9 LOL..... and im still breathing
