New to contact lens. A few questions?!

Question: Mmkay. So I just got my new monthly contact lens today.
I have a few questions. I am a 15 yr old girl.

1- Is it better to remove the lens by pinching while the lens is on top of my iris/pupil, or should I slide it downward first?

2- I know it's bad to sleep with them, but what about showering, swimming, and what happens if I cry? What about rubbing my eyes?

3- While I was wearing my glasses, I was near sighted. But now with my contacts in, things get a bit blurry when something is close up. But either way I see good far (while glasses/lens are in use). Is that normal?

4- Sometimes when I put the lens in I'll feel the lens a bit, then after a while it goes away, then comes back. It doesn't hurt. That's normal right?

5- Will wearing contact lens damage my eyes in any way?

Thanks!

1 - Removing your contact lenses either way is fine. Just do it which ever way you find easiest.

2 - DON'T shower, swim, or sleep in your contact lenses. Water can create bacteria on the lenses and can cause all sorts of infections, so don't shower or swim in them. If you fall asleep in your lenses they will dry out and make your eyes extremely sore. It will also stop oxygen from getting to your eye so its not a good idea to sleep in them. If you want to sleep in them you can get contact lenses that you just change once a month and can sleep in, ask your optician if they are suitable for you. Crying won't affect your lenses.

3 - Focusing on objects far away, and objects that are close up is different. this is why some people need distance glasses and reading glasses, bifocals or varifocals. Being so young this shouldn't really be a problem but it could be the type of contact lens you are wearing. If they are daily lenses they may not be your perscription exactly which may blur your vision slightly. Monthly lenses can usually be ordered to your exact perscription so you should ask your optician to check your vision and the fit for you. It could be that they are not fitting correctly and need a different base curve to the lens.

4 - Its normal to be aware of your lenses when you first start wearing them. This will go with time and you won't notice you even have them in.

5 - As long as you take care of your lenses, clean them properly, don't sleep, swim, or shower in them, change them when you are supposed too, and visit your optician for regular check ups you should have no problems at all.

As long as your lenses are always covered in your contact lens solution it doesn't matter which way your case is. A basket case may be better for carrying your lenses in your bag, rather than a screw top case.

1. I don't think it matters.
2. You can wear contacts in the shower and in the pool (don't open your eyes underwater though unless you want them to swim away without you) and crying won't bother them. You can rub your eyes, but if you do so too much your contact can come out or get stuck under your eyelid.
3. Yes
4. Yes. After you've had them a while you won't ever notice them while in.
5. No, so long as you change them when you're supposed to and store them properly. Don't wear one if you accidentally get a rip in it.

1-move it down first
2-if you go swimming you should def take them out showering can also wash them out if youget water in your eyes crying have never really affected mine but rubbing can def. get em out.
3-no you need to talk to your doc
4-its probably just air around the edges you are feeling.
5-not if you take care of them

1. There is no better way, but personally, I slide it downward first.

2. I shower with mine in, I just close my eyes. But, I prefer not to when swimming, because the chlorine turns my eyes really red. When you cry, contacts don't affect it at all.

3. Yeah its normal. But I've worn contacts for 2 years now, and i don't even notice it anymore.

4. Yeah, it happens to me all the time.

5. Nope, as long as you change them routinely

1. put ur finger on the contact and look up so the contact slides down and then pinch it off

2. i sleep in mine...i know its bad but my it doesnt bother my eyes. showering is fine in them but i dont recomend swimming in them unless u have an extra pair handy cuz u might lose one. uhm i rub my eyes no problem but i know my mom cant rub her eyes or they pop right out. it depends on your eyes.

3. im near sighted and i see fine close up with my contacts...talk to your eye doctor next time you see her.

4. there might be bubble under it just make sure you push all the bubbles out when you put it on

5. no they wont but with wearing glases or contacts it can make your eye sight worse just becuase you get used to 20/20 vision.

6. no big deal if is upside down or something
