Need video showing using crutches going up & down stairs?!

Question: I hurt my leg and have to use crutches, was carried up my steps, but now faced with using crutches to leave house. Scared to try going up and down steps as don't have railing to help support me, when I go along all of my steps. If any one has any video's of how to easily do this, and links, that would be great. thanks

I didn't find any video, but the sites below have pictures and clear instructions for going up and down stairs with crutches. One is aimed at people who've had hip replacement, the other at people who've had knee surgery. The technique seems to be the same, though.

Good luck.

When going down, put the crutches on the step below you, put weight on the crutches and move your good leg down to the stair that the crutches are on. As for going up, you lead with your good leg... so have the crutches on the bottom step, and put enough weight on them in order to lift your good leg up one step... then move the crutches up to your step, and start over. :) good luck!

No video required. It's really simple and even a clutz like me managed most of the time. When steps are very narrow I went down on my butt.
With your crutches upright on the floor and firmly planted for support, lift your unoperated leg and place it on the step. Leaning forward on the crutches, lift yourself up. Use the crutches and your unoperated leg to support your weight. Now lift your operated leg up onto the step. You may want to have someone help you the first few times until you become comfortable with stairs.

Feel better.
