No matter how much i sleep i am always tired what is wrong?!

Question: Ive tried getting up after 8 hours, a couple hours later i get tired and hav to go back to sleep. ive tried 10 hours, ive tried many things, but no matter what im always tired and want to sleep all day, my eyes and head get heavy and its very hard not to sleep. the weird thing i noticed is that i never get extreme tiredness at night, only during the day. ive been to the doctor, ive had a brain scan because of persistent headaches, and had a blood test to check for anemia etc nothing is wrong she prescribed me anti depressants, but i fear they'll do nothing. what is wrong and does anyone else have the same problem

always tired is a classic depression symptom. You also could be a victim of CFS(Cronic Fatigue Syndrom). Try the AD pills and see if that works. If no, tell your doc and try something different. Try also resetting your sleep schedule .

Too much sex, possibly...and probably.

I hate antidepressants. Consider that you could be having some sort of allergic reaction to something in your diet or some low grade infection somewhere that is wearing your body down. Try to eliminate meat, sugar, dairy, caffine and refined flour. Sometimes people that eat a healthy diet of the four food groups are still causing themselves damage. Just try it for a short time and see how you feel.

Sleeping too much can actually be bad for you as well. You need to try to cut it off at exactly 9 hours and try your hardest to never nap for more than 30 minutes. But if you are still extremely tired, you could have sleep apnea. That can still happen if you are skinny and healthy, sometimes its genetic. I would suggest going to a sleep lab. They can monitor you and will usually figure it out.

Sounds like you haven't taken the antidepressants long enough yet to know if they are going to help.
Your not the only one that is always tired. There are lots of us. We all hate it.

your Dr. is slacking on your care, or she thinks you are not being honest with her. The anti-depressants MAY work, and not because you're depressed, they have a ton of off-label, perfectly legal uses. One is addressing certain sleep problems.

What you REALLY need is to do is a sleep study. It may be nothing more than you are not breathing right in your sleep, or you are waking enough to damage the quality of your sleep cycles. People think you just 'fall asleep, and maybe dream, maybe not'. But there is So much more to sleep and how it works with your brain, and it's chemistry, during your waking hours. If you can't figure out WHAT is happening when you sleep, how will you fix it? Get a study done, takes a couple of nights, it's usually covered.

lack of exercise and a bad diet. Get up early (5am) exercise twice a day. Make sure your diet is good. You should be ok.

You need to do this for at least 8 weeks

Give it a shot!
Also, check your melatonin and blood sugar levels

I agree with the person who suggested a sleep study.
Your doctor is severely slacking off if she's just giving you anti-depressants for daytime fatigue.
You need to have a full sleep study done to check for things like sleep apnea, which is treatable but can be very dangerous if left alone. If you keep feeling tired during the day you should get a sleep study done. If your current doctor won't refer you for one, find one who will.

Do you have an excercise routine? You might want to try taking a time released vitamin B complex for natural energy and drink plenty of water.

hm... I need to take my own advise!! ;)

could be the season of winter since you don't do much you get more tired sort of hibernating like. You lack vitamin D which makes you more energetic and there is a disorder named S.A.D. seasonal affective disorder many people suffer it it is when you don't go out and do much you become more tired and get off those anti depressants your body should remain natural and not be filled with a bunch of chemicals

get your thyroid checked. Your doctor should have done this before she prescribed you anti-depressants..
