Should I visit doctor if my thumb is stiff after being stabbed by a rose thorn?!

Question: I was trimming the rose bushes in my yard yesterday afternoon and while yanking on one stem, my thumb was stabbed by a rose thorn that became imbedded in my thumb. This happened just below the knuckle & looks to be directly in a vein or nerve. It was painful to pull out but then the pain went away. By about 8 pm I noticed that my thumb was very painful & stiff to the point where it hurts to bend it and move it around. This morning it feels the same, stiff & painful to move. Also have some trouble writing since this is my writing hand. I'm a type II diabetic. Should I visit my doc today or is it safe to wait a couple of days to see what happens - if it gets better?

I'd wait a couple of days. The inflammation around the area could be causing it to be stiff which is a normal human reaction. Make sure you keep it clean, use peroxide on it to debride it. Put neosporin on it and bandage it. You can take some Tylenol/Alleve/Motrin for the pain. If it gets much worse or isn't looking better in 2 days, see your doctor.

you should go

yes, becuase the thron could hsave made your thumb infected

the dibetics r at the greater risk of getting the infection spread as compared to the normal people.1nce the infection spreads its not easy to get rid of it.i think u should better go for a doc n dnt forget to ask him about the injection of antitatanus cuz i think this sort of wounds r of greater risk.gud luck

go to the dr asap
