Is it bad for your knees when you use ankle weights?????!


Question: I thought it would strenghten my legs and tone them, but than a friend said it is hard on your knees and ligaments to use ankle weights. Thanks in advance!!!!

ankle weights are bad. Don't use them. If you want to strengthen your legs and tone them, try running or soccer or squats or something like that. Ankle weights put unnecessary strain onto your hips, knees, and ankle joints, and even though the knee is a large joint, it's the weakest joint in the body. The leg is heavy enough for the joints to get messed up on their own sometimes, you don't need to add any weight to it and injure yourself seriously.

So ankle weights are a no-go, but good job trying to get in better shape. Squats and running and stuff will help tone up your legs without as great a risk.

No. The weights help build up the muscles in your calves, ankles and knees. If your knee's start to hurt, use less weights, or wear them everyother day.

i would get pro advice could do damage to knee and to ankles
