Will a spinal tap leak heal on its own?!

Question: my girlfriend had a spinal tap on tuesday night. we were back up to the ER on friday because she has such a horrible headache that she can not stand. they tried iv's & pain meds but she still has the problem. they told her she needed a blood patch done & she would have to come back in the morning. well on sat she felt some better & decided to stay home. sunday she still felt crappy. now she is in even more pain. will the leak heal itself or should she have the blood patch done?

I hope you get some answers and I hope you girlfriend gets some relief. I am in the exact same position she is in. I had one done a week and a half ago, my headache went away for a few days and now it has been back for the last 4 days and it is horrible. My doctor told me I could get the blood patch any time I want to, I just keep hoping it will go away on it's own. I might be doing the blood patch if it doesn't go away, but I am scared to do it. I look forward to others posting about this so we can get some advice. Good luck to you, let me know what happens with her.

I forgot to ask, is she sick to her stomach? I have been.

u better ask specialist
