Is it possible to get my blood test results to hurry up?!

Question: I'm having little sleep due to sleep awakening caused by numbness and pins and needles in my hands.

The doctor thinks it is either carpal tunnel syndrom or and underactive thyroid.

I had a blood test yesterday and he will send me a letter telling me when my appointment is at the hospital for a nerve test.

This condition has become worse and I am losing sleep. This is the last day of Easter holidays so I'm worried about going back to college because we're going to have double the workload and I'm missing out on too much sleep.

Is there any way to get the results sooner?

I am from England using the NHS. Thanks for any support! :)

Blood tests results are at the discretion of the GP! If the GP write on the phial of blood Urgent Rheumatoid Arthritis, it will be done as soon as it arrives. If he just sends it in with nothing written on it, then it will be done when they get around to it. As your GP is asking for a Thyroid, probably take three days. The NCT nerve test might take longer. Remember, NCT are used for seriously ill people, strokes, MS and so on, so those serious Patients will have priority, over your suspected carpel tunnel syndrome, which has no CURE! At the end of all this you might just have to learn to put up with it. Best of Luck

I am sorry to say that you need to discuss this with your physician. Quite often certain blood tests take longer because of a diversity of reasons(incubation period, etc.) Contact your physician or his assistant to see if there isn't something they can do for you in the meantime.
