Stop smoking weed after prolonged daily use?!

Question: Hi, im in college and i have been smoking weed regularly for about four years now. Since i have entered college it has become a more frequent daily thing. I'm really starting to notice an inability to pay attention or think like i used to. Is there anyone who was in my situation who stopped and truly noticed a difference in mental function afterwards? Is it possible to be as productive and "smart" while on weed, is it a matter of motivation or just what i'm doing to my head? I would prefer people with experience and nothing patronizing.

hey i quit a while back and i remember walking outside about a week or so after quiting and thinking that everything looked really vibrant...the sky the grass...colour everywhere
as far as brain function...before quitting-dropped out of business admin. (also i hated it so...)
after quitting-getting 80;s and 90's in difficult anatomy classes while enrolled in massage therapy college, so i think if you are feeling a little foggy, take a break its worth it...you can always have a little on a Friday night but limit it to weekends...you wouldn't drink all week so treat it the same

yes you will eventually think better and clearer after it completely clears out of your system. your motivation will be a lot better also. it will take 1-2 months if you are a daily user to clean up and see a difference. when you are smokin every day you dont realize how tired it makes you until you get free from it. thats why when you smoke it now it motivates you. when you do quit you will see your energy level will go way up. take it from a 20 year all day every day user, who is now 1 year clean and much happier, smarter, and healthier

There are a lot of mitigating factors that make this difficult to answer. I am a weed smoker myself, and I must condone moderation. I've noticed some negative effects in people who smoke it constantly. Usually a 20 bag will last me 5 days if not longer. If you only smoke less your tolerance will decrease. I can get to my happy place with 2 or 3 hits. It's not necessary to smoke bowl after bowl. It is possible to be productive while high, definitely, but less so if your completely smashed. I recommend getting into the habit of being a little high. High enough that things are interesting, but not so high that you can't function.

Marijuana has a way of flushing out sodium, potassium and electrolytes. This element is essential in a certain chemical transaction in the brain that has to be there for your brain to have recall and focus. If you're smoking a lot of weed regularly, you have created an extreme imbalance. The pot that is available today, is so strong it really has a powerful impact on brain chemistry.
You just need to supplement your diet with more of the kind of foods that will replace what has been lost. I like orange juice. I like the fructose high and it has lots of potassium and magnesium, something that can help calm you down. Bananas are a good source of potassium. Dried fruit would make a good snack. You'll probably have to snack and munch a lot before you notice a difference, otherwise, not being used to it, you will just flush it back out again. Something like plums, prunes, dates, figs or dried apricots. Tomatoes, tomato juice, grapefruit, or its juice, are full of sodium and potassium. The meat of the fruit (not just the juice) will help you retain your water to you don't flush it out quite so quickly. This could make you go to the bathroom a lot a first, but after a while you should get used to it.
Don't hesitate to get some soup. Good old chicken soup is good for anything that ails you. Bean soup would have more fiber and make you retain the water better.
Don't be surprise if eating too much sugar has a bad effect on you until you've conditioned yourself to all this sodium. It could leave you feeling cranky an hour after the sugar high has worn off. Too much beer might have a similar effect. Pulling an all-nighter or skipping meals could leave you feeling lethargic and forgetful too, so don't be too discouraged if you notice lots of things have a similar way of leaving you strung out. Just snack and replenish yourself. You should be just fine.
I hope this helps you.

I would quit until i'm done with school, that way your head will be much more clear. It takes about 90 days for it to clear out of your system, but you will see a change.I am 58 years old and have been smoking the weed off and on from the time i was 21.When i do smoke i keep the buzz all day doing about 1.5-2 joints a day every day sometimes more .This time around like you i have been smoking for about 4 years and just quit about 4 months ago and like every other time i see a big change. One more thing,i played in a rock band for many many years and NEVER lit up before going on stage. It was to hard to keep it together because my mind would wonder and make it hard to focus on what i was doing.Good luck, you can do it.
